Spoiler alert!
This page is to discuss spoilers of the show. The gays are in
We finally got to see Laenor Velaryon and Ser Joffrey Lonmouth together. And they seemed like a power couple! They were happy. They had a plan. It looked like things may even work out for them, after the chat that Laenor and Rhaenyra had.
Regarding that chat, talking about one’s “tastes” in food as a proxy for revealing sexual orientation is not new, but always interesting when well written. How could I forget that scene between Laurence Olivier and Tony Curtis in Spartacus. The subject then, was just oysters and snails.
And the “I like the wine, not the label” scene in Schitt’s Creek.
One gay is out. Of the picture.
But after such nice intro for our gay power couple, we saw Ser Joffrey trying to signal to Ser Creston Cole that their arrengement with Rhaenyra could work if they all keep it to themselves. What looked like could work, ended up in tragedy. Ser Creston bashed Ser Joffrey’s face in. It was awful.
I understand this is Game of Thrones. I understand I can’t expect happy endings. But seeing yet another instance of “bury your gays” in TV is just tiresome at this time. I had to roll my eyes so hard. Seeing poor Laenor getting married in tears while the blood of his lovers was still on the floor was just disrectful.
I’m still mad and not quite over it.
