Mastodon
I really wasn’t using it that much anyway
I joined #Twitter in 2007. But I haven't used it regularly in the last couple of years. I even wrote about it in my blog:

Today, I finally decided to remove the links to my Twitter profile from my home page. Like I stopped using Facebook ages ago and never looked back, the bird site is also behind.
I don't feel sad. This feels like leaving behind a bad relationship.
The future here on #Mastodon and the #Fediverse is bright.

TIL that some people use content warning (CW) on Mastodon when sharing pictures where the subject makes eye contact with the camera. You know, like selfies. As it turns out, eye contact can trigger neurodiverse people. I had no idea.
TIL that, when upgrading Mastodon, when this command for asset compilation fails:
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rails assets:precompile
If you run it again and it says everything’s OK, it’s a lie.
You need to delete the failed compiled assets, and start fresh. In order to do that, use the command:
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rails assets:clobber
And then you can try again the precompile action.
Apparently, this action uses a lot of RAM. If it keeps failing, you may want to consider stopping some processes (including Mastodon) and trying again.
This solved some issues I encountered when upgrading my instance on Digital Ocean from 3.1.3 to 3.5.3.
All the cool kids are getting Mastodon accounts to flee Twitter. I want to be one of the cool kids, too, so I got one myself. Follow me at @borghal@hda.zone!
